Title:
I was Assigned to Allied Military Government Here
Date:
1944 March
Description:
The Castle of the Baron of Casoli is still intact at the top of the hill, accessible only on foot. The Baronessa invited me to dinner, where I met her lovely daughters; but the spaghetti was so stiff and like a whip, that even the Baronessa could not wind it around her fork. She gave us permission to cut it with a knife.
My duties here were primarily helping Bob Read, of the American Red Cross to provide medical care and supplies for the Italian Civilians.
