Kinter's margin notes: "Plowing with water buffalo where land to [sic] steep to terrace – rice planted dry – gives very low yield – missionaries have been introducing Amer. corn in this area to plant in the very steep places instead of rice – we practically lived on roasted corn the whole 3 days."
