Kenneth Victor Brennan was born on September 24, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to Miriam Applebee and George R. Brennan. In 1942 at age eighteen he volunteered as an ambulance driver with the American Field Service (AFS), and was sent overseas with AFS unit ME 5 in March 1942. He took part in the African Campaign in the Western Desert and Italian Campaign before returning to the United States in October 1943. He returned to AFS service again in January 1944, serving in the Italian Campaign with AFS unit CM 55 until March 1945.
In 1946 Brennan married Joan Longley. Together they had two children, Barbara and Michael. Kenneth V. Brennan passed away in 1986.
