Abstract
Ronald M. Thorp was a volunteer ambulance driver with the American Field Service in World War II between 1944-1945. The Ronald M. Thorp Collection contains two portraits of Grasiella Maria Magnani, an Italian woman who married Thorp in a civil ceremony at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy during the war.

Administrative/Biographical History
Ronald M. Thorp was born on January 14, 1916 in Bergen, Norway. He volunteered for the American Field Service on January 18, 1944, and was sent overseas with unit CM 69 in March 1944. He took part in the Italian Campaign, and was repatriated to the United States in August 1945.
